The short answer: agree the bedrooms, the budget and a rough plan for meals before you book, and choose a villa with space to be together and space to be apart. Do that, and two families can share a really happy holiday.
Start with the bedrooms
Look at the floorplan together before you book. At Villa Esquina there are five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and the villa sleeps ten. Two bedrooms are downstairs and three are upstairs, and the two twin rooms can be made up as doubles. That makes it easy to give each family its own floor or to keep younger children close by. Talk about routines
Families often run on different clocks. Early risers, nap times and late dinners can all fit together if you talk about them before you travel. Agree a rough shape for the day, perhaps a shared breakfast and dinner with free time in between, and be relaxed about the rest. It also helps to agree a few house rules for the pool and the games room, so children know what to expect from the start.
Agree the money early
Decide how you will split the rental and the shared costs, such as food shopping and meals out. A shared spreadsheet or a payment app saves awkward moments later. Our rates include villa cleaning at the end of your stay and local tourism taxes, which keeps things simple.
Share the cooking
Taking turns to cook, one family per evening, works well. The kitchen is large and well equipped, and the dining table seats ten, inside or out. Plan a couple of meals out too; our guide to local markets is handy for stocking up.
Leave room for downtime
Not every day needs to be a group day. With a snug, a 15 metre pool, gardens and three balconies, there are quiet corners for everyone. Some families head to the beach while others walk in the hills or stay by the pool. The laundry room with a washing machine is a real help with children.
Getting around
There is parking for four cars at the villa, so two families can each have their own car and their own plans. Read our guide on whether you need a car in Pollença.
A note on the pool
Pool heating is available at an extra cost on request. Please ask us about it when you enquire, and we will confirm the details personally.
