Explore Pollença old town on foot
The Calvari steps, Pont Romà and lanes around the historic centre make an easy self-guided introduction to Pollença.
- El Calvari has 365 steps leading to the hilltop chapel and views across the town.
- Despite its familiar name, the exact origin of Pont Romà is uncertain; the bridge was first documented in 1403.
Pollença Museum and Sant Domingo cloister
The town museum occupies part of the former Dominican convent and brings together art, archaeology and local history.
- The collection includes contemporary art, archaeological material, Gothic panels and objects connected with Mallorca.
- Opening arrangements can change, so check the official listing before making a special journey.

The municipality includes the long beaches of Port de Pollença, the coves of Cala Sant Vicenç and the coastline around Formentor.

GR221: Son Amer to Pont Romà
The official route information grades this Pollença–Lluc stage as average rather than an easy casual walk.
- The signed stage is 17.45 km and takes approximately 4 hours 45 minutes in the Son Amer to Pont Romà direction.
- Wear suitable footwear, carry water and check weather, heat and current route status before setting out.
Walk up Puig de Maria
This short but steep walk climbs from Pollença to the historic sanctuary and wide views over the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia.
- The official route is 4.31 km, graded moderate and estimated at around 1 hour 30 minutes in total.
- The climb gains about 287 metres. Wear suitable footwear and take water, particularly in warm weather.
Walk through the Bóquer valley
The signed route from Port de Pollença crosses the Bóquer valley to a remote rocky cove and returns the same way.
- The official route information gives a total distance of 5.49 km, a low difficulty and an estimated 1 hour 30 minutes.
- There is little shade and no guarantee of facilities at the cove, so carry water and avoid the hottest part of the day.

Pollença Sunday market
The weekly market takes place in central Pollença every Sunday from 08:00 to 13:30.
- The town council describes around 300 stalls, not the 3,000 quoted in an older edition of our guide.
- Stalls extend around Plaça Major, Via Pollentia, Costa i Llobera and Ca les Monnares.
Alcúdia market
The regular Alcúdia market is held in the old town on Tuesdays and Sundays, normally from 09:00 to 13:30.
- Market arrangements and seasonal locations can change, so check the current monthly events listing before travelling.
- Combining the market with the medieval walls makes a useful half-day visit from Villa Esquina.

Formentor access in 2026
Road access towards Formentor lighthouse is regulated from 15 May to 18 October, between 10:00 and 22:00.
- Private vehicles without authorisation cannot use the lighthouse section during the regulated hours.
- The authorities recommend public transport, including TIB bus 334 from Port de Pollença. Check the live rules before travelling.
Santuari de Lluc
Lluc combines Mallorca's historic sanctuary with mountain scenery, a museum, botanical garden and starting points for walking and cycling.
- The sanctuary dates its religious history to the 13th century and remains an important Mallorcan cultural site.
- Check the official site for current visiting information, services and events before setting out.
Serra de Tramuntana World Heritage landscape
The Serra de Tramuntana has been a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape since 2011 and offers villages, public estates and signed routes to explore.
- Use the official cultural-route and public-estate information to choose a suitable visit rather than relying on an old hotel-blog itinerary.
- Respect access restrictions, fire-risk notices, private land and route closures, particularly in hot or unsettled weather.
S'Albufereta nature reserve
This protected wetland in the Bay of Pollença is an important refuge for migratory birds and can be explored on foot or by bicycle.
- The reserve includes lagoons, flooded meadows, streams, dunes, beaches and working agricultural land.
- Observe wildlife quietly, keep to permitted routes and check current access information before visiting.
Alcúdia old town and medieval walls
Alcúdia's historic centre sits within medieval walls begun in the early 14th century, with gates, lanes and Roman heritage to explore.
- The walls form a circuit of about 1.5 km and enclose the old town's historic core.
- The official tourism site offers cultural information and an audio-guide app for a self-guided visit.
Palma old town and La Seu cathedral
Palma's Gothic cathedral, commonly known as La Seu, is a useful starting point for exploring the city's historic centre on foot.
- The cathedral was built between the 14th and 16th centuries and contains Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and modern work.
- Check current opening times, admission and any terrace-visit arrangements on the cathedral's official website.
Historic Palma–Sóller train
The wooden railway has linked Palma and Sóller since 1912, crossing the Tramuntana landscape before reaching Sóller's valley.
- The historic tram continues from Sóller towards Port de Sóller, making it possible to combine town, landscape and coast.
- Timetables and operating days are seasonal, so check the railway's current information before planning the journey.

Pollença's official cycling section offers route ideas ranging from a circuit of the bay to longer rides towards Lluc, Sóller and Sa Calobra.
- Choose a route that suits the least experienced rider in the group and check distance, climbing and road conditions first.
- In warmer months, start early, carry plenty of water and avoid the hottest part of the day.
